What a nice surprise when the call came from one of our suppliers that another company had bought the wonderful brass HOZON we have sold so many years and would have supply again! The new company is Phytotronics, Inc. of Earth City, Missouri and they have packaged the same Brass Siphon Mixer we are accustomed to selling for about the past 50 years! We use this tool ourselves, it's wonderful, and we were sorry to hear that Dramm would no longer be supplying it when they introduced their new plastic one.
Congratulations to Phytotronics on a great item, we are pleased and proud to be offering it again! It comes in a very nice cardboard package, with really complete and full instructions on the back! Still MADE IN USA, of solid brass, which explains the somewhat higher price than before...and well worth the expense! It's so easy to use, we are giving the instructions here, so you'll always know where to find them!
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS...(1-16 ratio)..Make a concentrated solution using a bucket that is 1-5 gallons, mix your fertilizer with water at 16 times the rate normally used. (The product will be diluted 16 times as it passes through the siphon mixer. EXAMPLE: If fertilizer directions tell you to use 1 teaspoon per gallon, you would mix 16 teaspoons per gallon. When drawn through the siphon mixer, the fertilizer will be mixed with water at a 16-1 ratio. The finished product will be the correct proportion when discharged out of the hose. All fertilizer mixes should be made according to the manufacturers' recommendation.
OPERATING instructions: Connect the siphon mixer to outdoor faucet. Connect a hose of NO LONGER than 50 feet to the siphon. The siphon works best with a completely open nozzle and when no kinks or leaks are present in your hose. Drop the spring end of the suction tube in the bucket of concentrated solution with the other end connected to the siphon.
Turn the water completely ON! With average pressure, you should get one gallon of concentrate drawn through the hose in about 5 minutes of time. The backflow should prevent any concentrate from getting into the fresh water supply. For added protection, turn off the faucet when not using the siphon mixer, otherwise some dripping will occur. Turning off the faucet when not watering will help eliminate this problem.
If the hose is partially clogged, crimped or connected to a device that is too restrictive of water flow, the siphon may not draw up the concentrated solution. Remove the restriction to overcome the problem.
Care and Cleaning: Put clean water in the fertilizer bucket and run through the siphon to clean excess chemicals out of siphon. This will keep the siphon clean and accurate.
Caution: DO NOT DRINK from a hose that has had fertilizer or other chemicals applied through them! When not in use for an extended period of time, detach HOZON from the faucet!
